ABOUT THE COLLECTION

What is a Ralli Quilt?

A Ralli quilt is a traditional patchwork quilt from the Sindh region of Pakistan and parts of western India. They are made by stitching together layers of cotton with bold geometric designs. Many are created using leftover or repurposed fabric, which makes every piece unique. Ralli quilts are used both as bedding and as decorative textiles.

What is a Kantha?

Kantha is a type of hand embroidery from eastern India and Bangladesh. Traditionally, old cotton saris are layered and stitched together using a simple running stitch. This creates a soft quilt or throw with a lightly textured surface. Each piece reflects the maker’s hand and often features subtle patterns formed by the stitching.

What is a Parda?

A Parda is a textile used as a curtain, door covering or room divider in Indian homes. Many vintage Pardas are decorated with embroidery, appliqué or mirror work. Today they are often used as wall hangings or statement pieces in interiors.
